#FloresRewards Facebook Failure

So tonight I spontaneously ran out an opportunity for a couple of #FloresRewards.

Click the “Like” button on the Facebook group of the first video.

Seems simple enough, right?

I mean the Like Button is not only one of the core sources of Facebook’s infectious — some might even say viral — success, it has spawned such popular websites as http://LikeButton.me (one of the core sources of my relevance and topicality on Twitter… but don’t tell anyone).

Seems simple enough, right?

Apparently not!

When your Fellow #FloresRewards fans [or you, yourself, I guess.. I have no idea who "you" are] went to click that Like Button, they (or, I guess “you”) got this annoying error:

Okay

Okay?

I, for one, didn’t think it was “Okay”. I wanted to shell out some #FloresRewards tonight!

What are we going to do?

Make lemonade, of course!

I wanted to get some comments on the blog anyway :)

Here is the procedure:

  1. Register to write a comment on this post.
  2. Ask me a question.
  3. That’s it.

I am running Flores Rewards the same way I run Five; basically you have to register to post comments, but once you have had a comment approved, you can go ahead and write more comments.

Anyone who posts a question by end of the day Friday (that would be midnight September 3, 2010) gets three #FloresRewards. This is actually an upgrade from the original “Like the video” #FloresRewards … We were only going to ship two for those.

If I like your question and decide to pick it and answer it in the next video, you instead get five #FloresRewards. I don’t know how popular this is going to be but let’s say I will pick a maximum of five such five-star five-point questions (in honor of, you know, Five).

So what kind of questions can you ask?

Basically anything interesting you think I have an interesting opinion on. Probably Magic: The Gathering-related, but that is not necessary. I am opinionated on lots of topics, and fairly well read. Please let’s keep the questions PG-13, shall we?

Thanks for your patience.

Remember: I didn’t screw up. em effin Facebook did.

LOVE
MIKE

(aka em eff)

P.S. Normally I don’t care about this stuff but for #FloresRewards tracking purposes, please sign your name. Thanks!

What are the current best decks in standard at the moment, in your opinion. I have had lots of luck with Naya Shaman, and both versions of dredgevine.

#2 MortVK on 08.31.10 at 7:22 am

Of all the excellent TV shows that have been cancelled prematurely, which one do you consider the biggest tragedy, and why?

Please, answer in 500 words or less in the space provided, using only a #2 pencil.

#3 echophantom on 08.31.10 at 7:26 am

With Amsterdam this weekend being the only big tournament for the format, how do you see Extended shaping up in October when Time Spiral rotates out? Obviously Scars will add new things, but with Angel’s Grace, Tarmogoyf, Living End et al rotating out the format looks to be shaken up quite a bit.

#4 Alfrebaut on 08.31.10 at 7:29 am

What about… “how can you possibly like Veronica Mars season 3 when it has Piz in it?” Or how about what decks or strategies do you think will be good in Extended this season? Which ones do you think will be surprisingly good?

#5 GavinV on 08.31.10 at 7:31 am

I found your recent blog post about your top 10 TV shows very interesting as it both diverged and then reweaved and intersected with other’s lists with comments that put them under a unique light. By far, though, what I thought were the most interesting parts of your entry were when you talked about individual episodes. Your comments on what you liked about individual episodes kept me wanting to try them out, For example, after reading I went to go insta-watch Malcolm in the Middle’s “Bowling.”

So, my question to you is: What are your top 10 Television EPISODES of all time? It doesn’t matter if the rest of the show was overrated, or if you just caught one episode on a whim and this happened to be the one. Name 10 Break it up into top 5 half an hour episodes and top 5 hour long episodes or rank them together, whichever.

Looking forward to hearing an answer eventually.

On the topic of failures, what would you say has been your biggest failure throughout your Magic career? What has been your greatest success? I guess I mean to ask is “Are there were any big mistakes or times when you had to get out of it?” and “What makes it all worth it or what got you into it?”

#9 MitchellMc on 08.31.10 at 7:53 am

Not a question about competitive magic, but are you a fan of altered cards? I find the works people can come up are often amazing, and as someone who really isn’t creative at all it’s awesome to see others doing it. If you are by chance, do you have any favourites?

I loved reading your thoughts on Lost. I was wondering if you were going to pick up the boxed set of the final season. It is going to have an extra with Hurley and Linus running things on the island. Do you think it will redeem it for many who were disappointed? Thanks

How do you get your cards?
Do you spend the time to trade for what you need and to get value (ala mtgmetagame), do you just shell out cash or tix for what you want to play (and then what do you do with the cards afterwards), or do you just borrow from other people?

What card do you see as being most effictive vs graveyard bases Standard decks? Bojuka Bog for KotR, Leyline of the Void, Ravenous Trap or still the versatility of Relic of Progenitus?
Oh, and do you have any #FloresRewards planner for PT Amstedam?

Scars speculation aside, what current decks do you think will survive in standard sans shards?

#27 Patrick Fowley on 08.31.10 at 1:16 pm

I’m a large fan of mill decks (the look of hopelessness on an opponent’s face when they lose upwards of half their deck due to mill is wonderful). How effective would they be in standard? I know most people don’t think that they would work, but here’s hoping one could!

#28 obsequious on 08.31.10 at 1:31 pm

Maro recently took a lot of heat and had to vehemently defend his vote for Mike Long for entry into the Magic HOF. Would you ever cast a vote for Mike ~Cadaverous Bloom~ Long? Why or why not?

ps I would say I’m impartial but remember the man did create tendrils.dec…

Follow up question! If you’re so inclined…does great deck building = great playing…does great playing = great deck building…why or why not?

kthxbye,

Norm Brookens

How do you test on Magic Online? Do you seek out specific matchups, or just play against whatever comes up? What are the chances of getting more videos ala UW Eldrazi vs UW? That would be sweet- there are so many draft videos, and hardly anything for constructed.

#47 BryceMenard on 08.31.10 at 7:11 pm

Seeing as how there’s a Sealed PTQ and GP season coming up, what do you think is the best way to test Sealed? It is to just smash Smash SMASH decks together, slowly learning the ins and outs of the format, or taking a look at each pool and pondering how the optimal way to build it is with others?

Also, are Sealed PTQs worth it?

What’s your take on the winner of Top Chef? Would you have had it any other way?

#100 admin on 09.17.10 at 6:29 pm

@Karmarig – Kelly was my favorite; I understand Kevin’s final dessert was inspired (probably more than enough reason to win this particular challenge) but I would have eliminated him much earlier; Ed fell victim to the silver / wood / kryptonite of many a super-chef whereas we have no idea what would have happened had Angelo been healthy working alongside Hung (probably the strongest technical chef ever to win the game).

Earlier on a judge called Kelly’s palate into question; I think that is probably because she smokes. So I would have had her never start smoking if I had it any other way.
